Supportive, genuine, people-focused

Career Journey Snapshot:
I started my career in sales, spending 12 years with the same organisation. I loved my customers, the team and the role, but eventually realised there was limited opportunity for me to grow. Making a change meant stepping outside of what was comfortable.

That decision led me into vocational education and training, where my career really began to evolve. I started by signing up apprentices and trainees before moving into roles working within and growing RTOs across both government and private sectors.

A significant part of my journey was taking on the challenge of rebuilding and growing Civil Train WA, bringing together business development, operations, industry engagement and leadership while building a fantastic team.

Today, as General Manager of Future Institute of Australia, I continue to build on those experiences, leading the growth of the organisation and working with industry to create training and development solutions that respond to what businesses and their people actually need.

Proudest Professional Achievement:
I am most proud of the people I have had the opportunity to mentor and support throughout my career. Seeing someone grow in confidence, take on new challenges and eventually step into leadership roles is incredibly rewarding.

What I love most is that many have stayed in touch years later, and I still get to hear about their successes, career moves and achievements. I am always very proud to have played a small part in their journey.

Key Skills & Strengths:
Mentoring and developing people, leadership, relationship building, business development and industry engagement, with a strong understanding of both people and business.

What Motivates You in Your Career?
I love seeing what can happen when someone is given the right opportunity, encouragement and support.

Whether it is helping someone become a more confident leader, helping an organisation strengthen its workforce or simply connecting people who can help each other, I am motivated by making something positive happen.

I also love learning. Industries and workplaces are constantly changing, and I enjoy challenging the way things have always been done, exploring new ideas and finding better ways of doing things.

What Being a Lead Her Member Means to You:
Being a Lead Her Member is an opportunity to be part of a community of women who genuinely want to support, connect and learn from one another.

Throughout my career, I have benefited enormously from people who have shared their experience, opened doors, made introductions, offered advice or simply encouraged me to back myself.

For me, Lead Her is about creating genuine connections, sharing what we have learnt and helping other women recognise opportunities and have the confidence to take them.

Advice You’d Give to Women Entering the Industry:
If you’re looking to move into the resources or mining industry, my advice would be to do your research and don’t be afraid to ask lots of questions. There are so many different roles and career paths, so spend some time understanding what they involve and finding the ones that genuinely interest you and suit your skills.

Build your network, attend industry events, talk to people and find a mentor who can share their experience and help guide you.

And don’t underestimate the value of the skills and experience you already have. Many of them may be more transferable to the industry than you realise.

Who You’d Love to Support as a Mentor:
Career switchers, women returning to work, women looking to progress their career and women aspiring towards leadership.

Topics You’re Happy to Mentor On:
Leadership, professional development pathways and culture/workplace dynamic navigation.
